About ABC for Health, Inc.: Advocacy and Benefits Counseling for Health, Inc. (ABC) is a Wisconsin-based nonprofit public interest law firm dedicated to ensuring health care access for children and families, particularly those with special needs or who are at risk. ABC's mission is to provide health care consumers with the information, advocacy tools, legal services, and expert support they need to navigate through America's complex and confusing health care financing system. ABC is developing a nationally recognized, integrated model of Health Benefits Counseling, legal services, and policy advocacy that promotes a universal system of health care coverage and access for all people. ABC also serves as a catalyst in the development of local HealthWatch Coalitions as well as other partnerships and strategic alliances to influence public policy and opinion while also working to maximize all available health care coverage options for all people.
About My Polaris Project: The My POLARIS Project (Points Of Light: Advocacy, Resources & Innovative Services) is a proposed collaboration between ABC for Health, Inc. (ABC), Special Needs Program at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and the Medical College of Wisconsin (Children’s), St Mary’s Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and the Western Regional Centers for CYSHCN. The partners will work to 1.) Plan, implement and develop credentialing models for a comprehensive program of Patient Navigators, 2.) Train Patient Navigators as well as a spectrum of 100 workers from the public health workforce to assist families and children and youth with chronic illnesses and disabilities, and 3.) Demonstrate an innovative integrated service delivery model to support families and children navigate health care and coverage options. My POLARIS will be a multifaceted professional development, service delivery and training demonstration program. The lead organization, ABC, is a state-wide nonprofit public interest law firm located in Madison, WI. ABC’s expertise in linking children and families, particularly those with special health care needs, to health care benefits and services will provide for successful collaborative efforts and patient referrals with the named My POLARIS partners.
